About Some Kind of Sacred
“Some Kind of Sacred” is a collection of everyday call and response prayer between poet Jon Fagerson, and visual artist Julie Ann Stevens.
After Jon and Julie were introduced in 2014—brought together by their shared practices of art and contemplative spirituality—an informal email antiphony began.
Julie’s contemporary abstract iconography often led, calling forth Jon’s multi-layered poetic responses, grounded in everyday life and his own conversations with the divine. The result is a rhythmic flow of visual and written prayer that invites readers to deeper experiences of their own lives as prayer.
