earthly trinity

I painted this recalling a lovely snow shoe hike with two friends in the country side of Lake Catamount near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The shadows of clouds and brush on snow, dappled with a few snow shoe impressions, are dreamlike.

The sky that afternoon opened up in a way that put the words “stairway to heaven” in a new frame for me.

This is a version of the trinity on earth —

The blessing of good company and proper footwear to hold us up as we walk both —
