I took my watercolors to the mountains in 2013 and the first few paintings in the “heaven & earth” collection practically painted themselves.
At 10,500 feet it’s hard to ignore the mountains telling you “we are one with the sky.”
Indeed, where does earth stop and heaven begin?
This piece really surprised me. I started with a scene of a lone pine tree on a horizon — and if you look closely, you will see the dots of spruce arms that established the framework for this totem of unity. Though I could write volumes on the symbolism packed in this piece, I will leave you with one line by Robert A Johnson from Owning Your Own Shadow that seems to be spoken here —
“There is no choice, for the mind of God is unified and knows no duality.”
