This work came from my farm retreat in July 2012.
This was a huge opportunity for me to evolve my relationship with watercolor and learn more about how it fits into my artistic presence.
One thing I learned is how much painting and writing have in common. Years of practicing writing gives me confidence in my ability to tune word choice, cadence and disclosure to reflect my intentions.
I have a long way to go before I reach that mark with my painting.
Color choice and brush strokes — like words and details — can easily be over done. And believe me —
I over did — and did over —
More times than I care to remember.
Lessons in trying too hard and missing the point, and yikes —
No digital version control or delete key.
But I’m grateful for the chance to put the time in —
And the growing awareness of what it means to collaborate with spontaneity and integrity —
With a brush in my hand.
